Theatre Society
Our mission, should you choose to accept it, is to widen the reach of our society to groups within and out of the university. Theatre is a fantastic way to build friendships and skills, so we want to give the people of Guildford a chance to experience its joys while also raising money for some fantastic causes.
ABOUT US:

We host weekly workshops where members can get involved in fun activity games and improv as well as more specialised areas such as script work, Shakespeare or stage combat. Each year we stage multiple shows where members volunteer their time to direct, act or get involved behind the scenes to make fantastic pieces of theatre - serious and funny!

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Our two charities for the 2018/19 year are Oakleaf and The Jigsaw Trust - two very important groups that we have now supported for multiple years in a row. Theatresoc provides a way for these groups to practice skills that so many people in the industry seem to possess: confidence, teamworking, public speaking, risk taking etc. through activities where people may not even realise the developments they're making while building friendships. We also have given talks to tell people about potential career paths or just next steps like going to uni. Ultimately we help build a strong foundation for individuals so they can flourish into their future selves.

OUR VALUES:
Inclusivity, friendly and welcoming, and a willingness to try stuff out!
