Momentum Children's Charity
Helping families of seriously ill children to keep moving forward
ABOUT US:

We help children (0-18 years) with cancer and life-challenging conditions, and their families, in Surrey, Sussex and SW London. We partner with 9 local NHS hospitals who refer families to our Family Support Workers . Our services include counselling, creative therapy, respite breaks and support groups, to address emotional and mental health needs; we are there for as long as any family needs us.

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Every single day we make a positive difference to the lives of the children and families we support; to be there to help them keep moving forward, whatever the outcome, for as long as we’re needed.
In the last year, we support 260 families whose child is in active treatment and 113 bereaved families; offering personally tailored support to care for the emotional and mental wellbeing of every single family member.
Everything we do is about making a positive difference when its needed most because no family should have to cope alone.

OUR VALUES:
We strive to create an amazing workplace for all, one where every single employee feels valued, heard, inspired and supported.
THINGS WE ARE PROUD OF:
95% of children said our support had helped family relationships with their parents and siblings.§91% of children reported improved emotional and mental wellbeing thanks to support and advice from Family Support.§96% of parents saw improved participation in their social and leisure activities.§1% of families said respite services had positively impacted their ability to cope.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

Individualism, impactful, adaptable, trustworthy and inclusive

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

Our story started with our now Founder CEO, Bianca, and a freezer full of lollies.

Whilst working as a receptionist at Kingston Hospital paediatrics, she noticed that small touches make a huge difference to families whose children are seriously ill – small touches like organising a freezer for the ward, so that children could have ice lollies close by to help soothe painful mouth ulcers caused by chemotherapy. And with that freezer, Momentum Children’s Charity was born.

This small gesture paved the way for our personal approach when it comes to supporting seriously ill children and their families. Today we do so much more, but our commitment to the unique needs of each and every family, remains at the heart of everything we do.
