We are the Nursing Society, a group of student nurses whose main goal is to make the nursing degree at the University of Surrey the most supported and enjoyed in the United Kingdom. We work to support all cohorts with well-being, academic support, and social events to help students relax and enjoy university life. We are a point of contact for all aspiring nurses.
The nursing degree can be very overwhelming for many students as NMC requirements must be met and students must juggle both practical and theory work. Being so involved with placements and investing time into essays has left many student nurses feeling isolated and available support doesn't often give opportunities to build relationships with other students in the way a society can. Student nurses are the future of our healthcare system, caring for our loved ones when they need it most and therefore should be supported themselves for the excellent work they do.
We do not charge a membership fee to our nurses who are already struggling with the financial implications of a nursing degree. We try and make our events as affordable as possible and often run free events to our members.
We have 5 trained well-being champions within our committee and provide 24/7 support to our members.
