We are a community organisation that hosts monthly language learning events in three cities: Beirut, Munich and London (the newest place!). Let's Talk Language is all about dissolving social barriers and facilitating meaningful connection. We do this by creating a welcoming and global-focussed environment at our events and online; which are the main domains of the organisation. We host language learning events where anyone can attend, learn a language they are practicing and teach someone their native language (we play matchmaker). The events have themes that highlight different aspects of local/international cultural exchange (things we share, things that clash). So far, we have had events about dating all over the world, travel on a budget, favourite spots in London, the best food in the world. We host our events in Thenga Cafe, in King's Cross. Currently months are monthly, but we are hoping to increase this to fortnightly. We try to support our events with a strong online network where people that attend Let's Talk Language can access resources, interact with people and find basically Duolingo meets Couchsurfing.
A lot of division is arising in contemporary British culture. We firmly believe that a beautiful world is tolerant, rich in culture and socially inclusive.
So within these aims, we are trying to build and join up our local community from all aspects.
We provide people learning languages a genuine social environment to practice in (more fun than the classroom, less scary than the tube) and form partnerships, friendships and learning tandems. We do this by creating a safe space for learning.
