WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Right now, many people in our society are facing barriers that cause them to be socially isolated. Disabled and vulnerable people are often most at risk.

From lack of awareness for disability and mental illness, homelessness, unemployment, or lack of education opportunities, the obstacles are obvious. Social isolation is a growing problem in the UK. Britain has been called the ‘Loneliness capital of Europe’.

One-third of people with dementia said they lost friends following a diagnosis. Almost one in ten only leave the house once a month (Alzheimer’s Society).
3.6 million people aged 65 and over agree that the television is their main form of company (Age UK).
50% of disabled people will be lonely on any given day (Sense).
