DMAD&MDR
DMAD transforms scientific research into ecological consciousness and public awareness.
ABOUT US:

DMAD - MARINE MAMMALS RESEARCH ASSOCIATION
Marine Mammals Research Association-DMAD is a non-profit and a non-governmental organization that aims to create an ecological consciousness through its science and research activities. Our goal is to raise both public and academic awareness in order to identify and locate the habitat problems regarding the conservation of marine biodiversity in the Levantine and Adriatic Sea. In order to generate effective conservation strategies, we transform our research into awareness and management skills

WHY OUR WORK MATTERS:

Marine Mammals Research Association - DMAD (www.dmad.org.tr) is a dedicated NGO that aims to promote the conservation of marine mammal species and their habitats through integrating academic studies and public engagements and social awareness campaigns. Montenegro Dolphin Research is a first year-round study that addresses a variety of questions about cetacean abundance, distribution of the species, investigation of the behavioral effects of marine traffic and fishing practices in the located habitats. Montenegro Dolphin Research covers the coast of South Adriatic Sea, as to be its research and scientific data territory. Furthermore, MDR holds an important place amongst the area by being one and only NGO that generates a professional and methodological research effort focused on the marine biodiversity and ecological consciousness.

OUR VALUES:
The public awareness plays a significant role in the conservation studies and this is why, we frequently organize social events and collaborative beach cleaning activities in order to raise an ecological consciousness and respectful behavioral patterns between the society and the nature.
OUR AWARDS:
Three different Rufford Small Grant for our cetacean work in the Levantine Sea and Montenegro -WWF-Turkey=Giant Guardians of Deep Seas -ACCOBAMS Small Grant= Workshops on Acoustics, Photo-Identification and Habitat Mapping for capacity building
THINGS WE ARE PROUD OF:
The Montenegro Dolphin Research aims to address questions about marine mammal abundance, distribution and behavior that defines their critical habitats and investigate the impact of such major threats. Our wider attention focuses on the promotion and implementation of the awareness initiatives targeted by local community.
WHAT WE LOOK FOR IN OUR PEOPLE:

This is an extremely valuable opportunity for graduates and undergraduates in order to gain experience in the marine mammal research field. There is also a chance to develop a scientific project for your Bachelors and Masters thesis. Dedicated and consistent researchers from all over the world are highly encouraged to apply for the residency that is available for all the year. We recommend minimum two months of attendance with possible exceptions for the shorter periods. -True interest for marine conservation, -Ability to cohabit in a dynamic and multicultural environment, -Respect for the organization’s rules, -Proven experience of working effectively as a part of the team, -Fluent English and good communication skills, -High computer literacy and willingness to learn new softwares.

HOW WE ARE DIFFERENT:

Our research covers the Eastern Mediterranean and Adriatic Sea, targeting species and
habitats of marine mammals. Our projects aim to highlight the necessity of ecosystems and their conservation.
As to inform the public and academic premises, marine mammal interactions and data tracking are crucial.
You can always take an active role in our projects and encourage the efforts of our conservation events.
The program offers various educational research topics that provides an excellent opportunity for the Bachelors of Science, Master of Science students and autonomous researchers who are willing to pursue their academic careers and scientific aspects in the field of marine biology.
