CLIC Sargent is the UK’s leading charity supporting children and young people with cancer and their families. CLIC Sargent works to limit the damage cancer causes beyond health; be it helping financially, enabling family units to stay together or providing care at home to ease the disruption cancer causes to everyday life. We are a national charity but work at a local level, with multi-disciplinary care teams in each of the 12 Principal Treatment Centres in the UK. More information about CLIC Sargent and the work that we do can be found at www.clicsargent.org.uk .
Cancer doesn't just destroy lives, it devastates families. When a child or young person is diagnosed, CLIC Sargent works tirelessly to limit the damage cancer causes. CLIC Sargent Social Workers support families emotionally, practically and financially - being there to listen to them, liaising with schools, universities and work places, applying for grants and allowances, securing help with travel costs and hospital parking. Our nurses visit children at home and school to carry out necessary procedures, to ensure that, where possible, families can remain together at home. CLIC Sargent Homes-from-Home allow families to stay together in free accommodation close to the hospital where there child is receiving treatment.
