Our society was established in 1958, making us older than the University of Surrey itself. We have 3 main spaces on campus: Tillingbourne Satellite Ground Station, Radio Shack and the Makerspace. Our makerspace is open 24/7 for members to work on their personal, university, or group projects.
We run courses on coding, 3D Printing, Amateur Radio, and many more, as well as hosting many competitive robot building competitions throughout the year. We welcome all students, regardless of their university course! If you have any interest at all in electronics, we’d be delighted to have you.
We want students to have the freedom to explore areas of STEM that they may not cover during their degree courses. Our facililties are purposefully outfitted in a way that allows our members to branch out from their everyday studies and find their passion. We run events and courses that are specifically designed to avoid the usual university course curriculum and allow participants to put their knowledge to the test in new and interesting ways.
