The Value of a Drop
A young girl named Sulem, aged 9 years old, is walking four kilometres from her home to a borehole to collect water today.
If she does not walk these four kilometres her family won't drink anything today.
If we place to the side the immense pressure placed on Sulem to provide for her family and upkeep their nutrition,
if we forget about the physical strain Sulem endures to collect the water,
and just focus on the vast distance Sulem and her family are from clean water,
it comes to light that such a primal resource such as water, should be easily accessible for all.
So, whilst we sit comfortably in our rooms where we can access clean water within seconds, let's not forget the journey Sulem undergoes to obtain this same privilege.
