Thank you for your interest in applying to be a volunteer with Welfare Watch! The Support Zone and the Students Union are looking for student volunteers to assist and improve student safety on Rubix nights through volunteering with Welfare Watch.
Welfare Watch is a student-run support service at the Students' Union which promotes safer nights out on campus. As a volunteer, not only will you be supporting student safety, but you'll be part of an amazing team with plenty of opportunities.
As a volunteer, your role includes chatting with students' using the service and providing them with a safe space to sober up. Responsibilities can also include providing water and sick bowls to student's that need it, supporting them to find a safe way home, as well as making people aware of the service.
As a supervisor, your role will include being responsible for the overall running of the shift and management of the team of volunteers. This can include allocating volunteers to different areas, as well as following our escalation policy to ensure student safety is promoted. The supervisor role is a voluntary position.
Training for the roles involves attending a train session either in-person or online (approximately 1 hour), where further information about the roles and responsibilities will be provided.
