What is the Student Equality Network?
The Student Equality Network is a group of student volunteers who take part in activities and work together as a team to break down barriers that students from liberation groups face at University.
We have a diverse range of students at Surrey all coming from different backgrounds and identifying with different groups. We want to bring students together to showcase and celebrate the wealth of perspectives that we have at Surrey, and to help contribute to make Surrey a more inclusive place to live and study.
Who can join the Student Equality Network:
The Network is open to any student, the only requirement is to be passionate about promoting Equality, Diversity, and Inclusion at Surrey! Join the network to join a team of like-minded people to make change on campus.
Who might be most interested?
Promoting equality at Surrey is something that all students can take part in, but we recognise that some students from under-represented groups in Higher Education may have specific perspectives to share as a Network volunteer. These groups include but are not limited to:
-Students from a non-uk background
-Ethnic minorities
-Black students
-Women
-LGBT+ students
-Disabled students
-Students from low-income backgrounds
At Surrey, we recognise that we all have a variety of factors that feed into our identity. The Student Equality Network aims to recognise and celebrate difference in a positive way.
If I joined the network, what would I be doing?:
As a Network volunteer, you would meet a wide range of students and work as part of a team hosting events, running campaigns and helping the Network to break down barriers at University.
If the Student Equality Network interests you and you'd like to find out more information, please sign up through Surrey Volunteering, and a member of the Voice Zone will be in touch.
